What was the most expensive Christmas Tree ever decorated? Well, I did some searching and found that in 2010, theĀ United Arab Emirates had erected what they considered the most expensive tree ever in the Emirates Palace. At a whopping $11 million, I can’t see how one could get more expensive unless it was bigger.
The artificial tree was decorated with necklaces, earrings, and other jewelry, even watches! It held 181 diamonds, pearls, emeralds, sapphires, and other fine gems. The tree itself was valued at $10,000, but the jewelry valued at $11,000,000! However, this isn’t the most expensive Christmas Tree believe it or not. That honor belongs to Piaget Japan…

According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the most expensive Christmas tree was decorated on December 7, 2002 at the Tsunamachi Misui Club, Minato-ku, Tokyo, Japan by Piaget Japan. The Christmas tree was decorated with 83 pieces of jewelry which had a total value of 1,357,785,000 Japanese Yen or $16 million in American money. The jewelry was placed on the tree rather than in boxes wrapped under the tree. Watches, rings, earrings, bracelets and necklaces adorned the tree making it worth more than the bulbs and lights people now buy from the Dollar Store.
I don’t think I need a Christmas Tree that’s worth $16 million, and to me, all the expensive jewelry just doesn’t look very “Christmas-y” in my opinion. I think I’ll stick with my combination of plastic and glass ornaments, LED lights, and what gifts I can afford, wrapped and placed neatly under my tree.
